Well, here is the first blog entry on the new J.D. Nash & Red Circle website.
First, let me thank you all for coming here and supporting our music and us. It's not only our "job" to make and play this music for you all, but it is indeed our pleasure. It's something that each of us in the band enjoys very much.
I guess maybe introductions are in order...
I'm J.D. I do the lead vocals around here, along with a little guitar strumming and percussion from time to time.
Shawn Ames (The Man Behind The Curtain) plays guitar, keyboards, percussion, vocals, etc. Shawn writes and composes a great deal of the music. He is also the producer and engineer for the Red Circle stuff that comes out of the his studio; which, by the way, is Number 9 Productions in Topeka, KS.
Brian McGuire (The Genius) is our incredibly talented lead guitarist/vocalist. He is also a very talented composer and songwriter in his own right and adds a great deal to the music that you hear.
Ron Prothe (The Clock) is our percussive engineer (that's drummer to most of ya'll). He, too, is a talented songwriter/composer and also plays guitar and adds his vocals to the mix. His solid and steady rhythm is the backbone of the Red Circle experience.
Chris Nicklay (The New Guy) is our talented new bassist whom we are all getting to know and like more and more as the Circle becomes tighter.
Danny Tallent (The Stage Stomper) is the original bassist for Red Circle. He had to leave the band after a tragic accident took the life of his beautiful bride, Ashley, and left him partially paralyzed. We all hope and pray for a speedy recovery for Danny.
Our first CD, "So There I Was..." has sold decently over the last couple of years (THANK YOU ALL) with a couple of tracks still getting airplay on various radio stations and Native Radio Shows around the globe. We're very proud of our Freshman release and hope that you all are enjoying it as well. We're also proud of the fact that "How You Gonna Be?" garnished a Spirit of the People Award at the First Annual Native-E Music Awards in 2008. The song was also performed live, by me, at the opening night of My Life Is My Sundance in Boulder, CO and by the intoxicating performer, Happy Frejo, at the Women In Film International Film Festival in Hollywood, CA.
We had the honor of covering the C.O.P. song, "Needles" and having it chosen to be included on the CD, "Working For The Machine - A Tribute to Circus Of Power".
Our newest project, "Get Off My Lawn" promises to be the same eclectic mix of rock, country and blues that we hope you have grown to love. It is scheduled for release on November 13th, 2009 and includes performances by guest artists Tina Hernandez, Lightnin' Ike Miller and Orlando Zuniga. Lyricists Chloe Z. Fox, Lisa Floda and Scottie Long also contributed their amazing words to this project.
So There I Was... and Get Off My Lawn will both be available at CDBABY.COM in the next few weeks as well as available for digital download on several world-side sites.
New Red Circle gear will be coming out very soon as well and we'd love to see pics of our friends and fans sporting our colors. For now, just click on the merchandise tab on the home page to purchase your Red Circle gear!
Thanks for stopping by and spending some time with us. We hope you enjoy our music, videos, pics, links and words as much as we love getting them out to you.
If you have pics of the band, stories to share, etc. Please feel free to register here, sign the guest book which will be available soon, and share your stuff with us.
Big Love from all of us to all of you!
